Viktor Brandner
Head of thermal cleaning Service
For almost 30 years SCHWING has provided customised contract cleaning to the polymer processing industry. Since then more than 250,000 different parts are cleaned according to the highest quality and environmental standards and reintegrated into the customer's production process every year.
Reliable plastic or polymer removal must be adapted to a broad range of thermosetting material, elastomers and thermoplastics. In addition SCHWING, as a worldwide in-house manufacturer, uses all thermal cleaning methods such as e.g. fluidized bed systems, vacuum pyrolysis systems and other pyrolysis furnaces.
Plastic deposits on tool surfaces, residues of charred or degraded polymers and other contamination caused by releasing agent or grease is removed by optimised post-processing procedures.
Increased tool service life, longer durability, reduced machine downtime and limitable cleaning costs increase the efficiency of your production.
At SCHWING the know-how transfer to the customer begins with free testing offered in the early phase of a project. These tests are preferably performed in the presence of the future customer; different systems are presented to them and individual solutions proposed.
Electrically or gas-heated (vacuum) pyrolysis and fluidized bed systems with application temperatures up to 530 °C are available for trials of thermal cleaning of metal parts. In addition, the complete range of accessories such as tool-specific loading baskets, afterburner systems, after-treatment equipment (e.g. ultrasound) and devices for quality testing can be extensively examined and tested here.
Customers and interested parties are invited to bring their own parts and tools, contaminated with polymer, along. “Their” optimal cleaning method is determined with the help of our engineers and process technicians.
Depending on the requirements, various cleaning and after-treatment systems are available for the complete removal of adherent polymers and inorganic residues: The SCHWING cleaning service offers cleaning modules with a chamber volume up to 15 m3 for single and assembled parts with a weight up to 5,000 kg (among others, film extrusion dies) and up to a length of six meters.
Especially sensitive or complex parts such as filters, spin nozzles, spin packs and hot runner tools are subjected to specially developed after-treatment processes after thermal cleaning.
By careful examination and microscopic inspection of the parts the quality of the cleaning results is determined and documented for the customer in a traceable manner.
The SCHWING cleaning service responds particularly flexibly to the deadline requirements and production processes of the customers. SCHWING offers extremely short processing times in three-shift seven-days-a-week operation for single, disassembled, assembled or other complex tools.
Through precise scheduling of pick-up, cleaning and delivery services SCHWING ensures, in addition, the smooth integration of the cleaning processes in the operating flow of the customer.
A further advantage of cleaning service is that SCHWING combines all cleaning variants optimally and guarantees the best results. In this way it is possible to provide individual application, tool and or material specific cleaning concepts to meet the needs of any customer. Regular cleaning services with logistics plan and schedule guarantee can be summarized in a general agreement:
Regular cleaning services with logistics concepts and guaranteed deadlines can be summarized in a framework agreement (CONTRACTCLEAN). In this manner, SCHWING SERVICES packages are created, tailored to the cleaning demands of the customer, combining all available cleaning technologies into a cleaning logistics total concept.
